Unit Director

Who YOU are: Strong leader, team builder, youth development advocate

The Unit Director is accountable for directing/managing the overall daily operations of the designated Unit with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, leading and training staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration.

Required Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

Leadership

  • Serve as a mission-led and outcome-driven “culture builder” to ensure that the values and core beliefs of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County are maintained
  • Command of youth development trends, regularly bench-marking to ensure that all programs, training, and initiatives are meeting the needs and interests of members
  • Drive content strategy and the organizational mission, serving as a brand ambassador to internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to present to a range of audiences with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate values of integrity, excellence, and inclusion, and integrate into the work environment

Team Development

  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff while advancing organizational impact, maximizing human capital and resources, and ensuring impact for youth
  • Provide innovative leadership in executing all programmatic and training/learning expenditures within budget
  • Provide leadership for the development of learning experiences for Boys & Girls Club professionals to support organizational goals and objectives
  • Develop organizational talent by providing coaching, feedback, staff development plans, and performance management to designated staff

Budget and Resource Management

  • Manage Unit financial resources strategically, controlling expenditures against budget
  • Assist in the development of annual Unit budgets

Strategy and Program Execution

  • Create and communicate strategies, tactical objectives, and action plans
  • Apply logic and reasoning to identify new solutions or approaches to problems
  • Drive projects to completion and high-level execution
  • Identifies opportunities and takes action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, units, organization, and community to help achieve business goals
  • Ensure a healthy, safe, and positive environment in program areas
  • Develop, plan, and monitor programs to ensure completion goals and desired outcomes
  • Oversee membership management systems, to ensure proper membership documentation and retention of registered members
  • Champion the Club's approach to youth behavioral management

Outreach, Commitment, and Knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs

  • Give compelling testimony to the value of the organization and the work, raising awareness and building mutually beneficial relationships in the community
  • Show care and concern for youth
  • Understand the Club Experience and outcome measurement
  • Understand or quickly learn Club culture, resources, and budgeting/financial processes

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience with Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization, planning and supervising youth programs based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Youth Development (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Preferred)
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license
  • Computer and software literacy

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40,000 to $45,000 /year


Youth Development Professionals

A Youth Development Professional (YDP) supports Club Leadership in providing an Outcome Driven Club Experience in a variety of programming areas including: Learning Center, Gym, Games Room, Computer Lab, Kitchen, Art Room, and other targeted programming areas. The majority of responsibilities are working directly with youth, ensuring their safety, well-being and development through interactive play and planned activities.

The YDP is self-motivated, mature, energetic, and able to maintain clear and healthy boundaries with Club members, parents and staff; able to communicate and interact with youth in a way that is age appropriate, motivational and positive. The YDP must be flexible, have the ability to adapt to a work environment that changes often, must remain calm and solve problems in stressful situations. The YDP must anticipate and implement all elements of activities in an organized fashion.

Shift: 

  • School Year: Monday - Friday 2:00p - 7:00p
  • Summer: Monday - Friday, shifts vary between 7:30a - 5:30p 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Establish a program setting that ensures the health and safety of our members
  • Understand and implement the youth development strategy
  • Provide strong guidance and role-modeling to all members
  • Welcome and register new members and participate in the Club Orientation process
  • Implement and monitor quality programs and activities that are inclusive and FUN
  • Ensure program content supports goals and organization mission
  • Identify and recruit members for individual programs
  • Support members in meeting targeted program outcomes
  • Make certain programs and activities occur daily as scheduled
  • Take pride in work and appearance, both personal and of the Club and program areas
  • Ensure space, equipment and supplies are ready before programs begin, and at the conclusion of each day that everything is organized and well-maintained

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 

  • Has a desire to work with kids
  • Energetic and FUN, positive attitude
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior challenges
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to conduct on-the-go projects and activities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Punctual, reliable, displays initiative
  • Experience working with youth, preferably in an organized program setting
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (will offer training)

Pay Rate:

  • $10.00-$12.00/hr  (based on experience)

Member Services Coordinator

We're looking for a positive, organized person to join our outstanding team and make a difference in the lives of community youth.

The Member Services area creates a first impression for youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and community partners. The Member Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring safety and professionalism at the Club entrance and throughout the facility, including managing first impressions for all clients (youth/parents/community), and initiating parent communications and engagement. Under the direction of the Unit Director, the Member Services Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining accurate membership records and attendance data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain safety and confidentiality measures
  • Create an environment that is inclusive, FUN and professional 
  • Positively acknowledge every member, parent and visitor upon entering and leaving the building
  • Provide memorable customer service
  • Talk with members to discover interests and promote participation in Club activities
  • At all times, present yourself as a positive role model for youth
  • Control access to program areas, direct and supervise the flow of members in/out of the facility
  • Accurate and timely management of Member Tracking System, daily attendance tracking of all members
  • Manage membership registration and payments
  • Maintain proper phone etiquette, answer all phone calls and take detailed messages as needed
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of front desk area
  • Submit end of the day reports and payments
  • May participate in special programs and/or events
  • May be required to drive Club vehicle (requires valid state driver’s license)

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Punctual, reliable, displays initiative
  • Ability to remain poised, positive and energetic in a busy/noisy work environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and quickly problem solve
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe, positive, FUN environment
  • Demonstrated PC application proficiency (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook)
  • Six (6) months experience in customer service and data tracking
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications to be completed within 6 months of hire (will offer training)

Pay Rate:

  • $12.00-$15.00/hr  (based on experience)
