Celebrating National Volunteer Month

By Christina Singh  |  April 19, 2022

Every April, Boys & Girls Clubs celebrate National Volunteer Month – and 2022 proved to be a special year. That’s because one of our volunteers won an award at the United Way’s Spirit Awards Ceremony! The event celebrates individuals, groups, and companies that epitomize the spirit of giving throughout the year. Isaac Gozdziewski, a high school student and athlete, volunteers at the Sheboygan Falls Club during summer months. In 2021, he logged 160 hours with elementary Club kids to help deliver meals, prepare program supplies, mentor, increase safety and engagement, and to share his love of sports. His supervisor, Michelle Smith, nominated him for the award. She says that volunteers like Issac are an essential part of a successful summer program and can make a lasting impact.

“Isaac finds ways to relate to all kids, which is so impressive. He is extremely patient and has a knack for engaging youth in a way that everyone can participate fully. His presence is such a gift to our kids and staff!” –Michelle Smith, Sheboygan Falls Unit Director

Congratulations to Isaac for winning the Youth Volunteer Star Award!

Boys & Girls Club is proud to recognize all the people who make a difference in the lives of kids through volunteering. We also want to recognize our amazing Board of Directors! Board members work as youth advocates, fundraisers, and coaches so that the Club can help kids build great futures. The Board leads the way in prioritizing safety, quality, outreach, governance, and sustainability. Every day, they carry the passion of the Club mission in their hearts and serve as community leaders that inspire others to get involved.
