Sheboygan added to state budget for Be GREAT: Graduate grants!

BE GREAT: Graduate is a nationally recognized dropout prevention program designed to help teens develop the academic, behavioral, and social skills needed to be successful in high school. Many Clubs across Wisconsin successfully run the program, which is supported by a combination of state funds and local fundraising.

  • Starting in the 2021-2022 school year, Boys & Girls Club will partner with Sheboygan Area School District to target students struggling with academics, attendance, and/or behavior. Students can be referred by counselors, teachers or even parents who feel their student could benefit from having extra support on the journey to graduation.
  • Teens work toward on-time graduation and a plan to be ready for college, community or career. And Club staff will be by their side, using a strength-based approach to teach problem-solving skills and promote school-parent relationships.

The primary goal will be to identify and break down barriers for youth struggling in school. To do this, a dedicated Graduation Specialist will leverage positive adult mentorship, individualized support, and collaborative relationships to ensure each student in the program gets what they need to achieve academic success and graduate on time.

Participation will be free for all youth. If you are interested in learning more about the BE GREAT: Graduate program, send us a message at program@thepositiveplace.com
